Main tasks

  • Develop and apply computational tools for the analysis of high-throughput sequencing data
  • Supervision and teaching of B.Sc. and M.Sc. students
  • Preparation of scientific publications and contribution to the dissemination of research results

Your Profile

  • Ph.D. in computational biology or bioinformatics (or close to being finished)
  • Experience in the analysis of next generation sequencing data and in the use of Linux/Unix and programming languages (e.g. Python or R)
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, interdisciplinary environment

The Institute of Crop Biology, led by Prof. Korbinian Schneeberger, invites applications for a postdoctoral position in plant genomics. The position is initially limited to three years, with the possibility of extension in accordance with the Act on Fixed-Term Contracts in Higher Education (Wissenschaftsvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). This is a qualification position intended to support the scientific development of the employee.

About us

The “Genome Plasticity and Computational Genetics” group, headed by Prof. Schneeberger, is internationally recognized for research in plant genomics, with a focus on developing computational and biotechnological methods for genome sequence analysis. Current projects involve genetic experiments and the development of computational approaches for the analysis of multidimensional genome data to study the temporal dynamics of plant genomes.
